ReturnOfTheJedi TheReturnOfTheKing

Each is chronologically the sixth and final installment of their respective film saga, or at least their initial sextets. Both start with the heroes going into enemy territory (Tatooine/Isengard) in order reunite with their previously captured friends (Han Solo/Merry & Pippin) and see to the overthrowing of a powerful enemy (Jabba the Hutt/Saruman the White) who had prior sent his minions to hunt some of them down. That enemy ultimately being slain by someone he is keeping in bondage (Leia Organa/Grima Wormtongue) with an attack from behind. Afterward they must prepare for the cataclysmic battle with the armies serving the Dark Lord. (Emperor Palpatine/Sauron) The rogue (Han Solo/Aragorn) finds himself having to rise to the occasion as a leader (a general/a king) to take the forces of good into the conflict whilst the central protagonist (Luke Skywalker/Frodo Baggins) has to complete his personal journey nearly on his own as he ventures deepest into the enemy's domain. Culminating in their final confrontation within a dangerous monolith (The Death Star II/Mount Doom) with the dark counterpart they'd hoped to redeem (Darth Vader/Gollum) in the dark lord's presence where they have to make the ultimate choice of whether or not they'll submit to the darkness. In the end the dark lord is destroyed after a great plummet and the hero's opponent ultimately dies with him. A narrow escape is made from the villain's domain as it crumbles apart, leading into the heroes becoming reunited to celebrate their victory with each other and to begin life anew.
